Off-Cycle Internship Program

Whether you have thought about a career in financial services or not, an internship is a great opportunity for you to understand more about what we do, be challenged in this dynamic, diverse and creative environment.

 

Investment Banking

Final year students or recent graduates, within 12 months of graduation, are eligible to apply for this 4 month program. While not required, completion of course work in finance, economics and accounting can provide a valuable foundation for the internship position. We recruit into two cycles, February to May and September to December.

 

Global Investment Research

This program is intended for students finishing up their penultimate year, going into their final year of study. You must have approval from your university to participate in a gap-year program. This is a one-year program in our Global Investment Research division where you will gain broad knowledge on economies and markets, obtain skills on data researching and critical analysis, as well as get hand-on experience in financial information technologies. We’re looking for students with a high degree of literacy in Excel; knowledge in the use of external databases, e.g. Bloomberg, CEIC, DataStream, FactSet, Haver, and Reuters. Program writing in VBA or experience using quantitative statistical packages such as SAS, EViews, MatLab, S-Plus is a plus.

 

Securities (Sales & Trading)

Final year students or recent graduates, within 12 months of graduation, are eligible to apply for this 3-6 month program. Ideal candidates for Sales and Trading are dynamic, quick-thinking self-starters who have a real passion for the markets. We recruit into two cycles, January to June and July to December.

New Associate Program

As a new associate, you will be an integral part of our business. You will develop product-specific and function-specific skills and interact closely with senior professionals and clients.

 

Who Can Apply

This program is open to final year students working toward an advanced degree such as an MBA, JD, MD, or LLM. Our new associates typically have two to five years of work experience. While your discipline or major are not important, we do expect a level of knowledge of the industry and the products and services we offer.

New Analyst Program

As a new analyst, you will learn about our businesses, develop important relationships, and build career-enhancing skills.

This program is open to final year undergraduate and graduate level students from any field of study and is ideally suited to those with little or no work experience. While your discipline or major is not important, we’re looking for students with an outstanding record of academic achievement and an interest in the financial markets.

Summer Associate Program

As a summer associate you will be given a unique insight into how the firm operates, working closely with internal and external clients on live projects.

 

Who Can Apply

This program is open to students currently working towards an advanced degree such as an MBA, JD, MD, or LLM and is usually undertaken during the second or penultimate year of study. While your discipline or major are not important, we do expect a level of knowledge of the industry and the products and services we offer.

 

About the Program

Our summer associates are given all the opportunities and responsibilities of a full time employee. Over the 9 week program you will be given the opportunity to work with and learn from some of the most talented professionals in the industry. All our interns take part in a firmwide orientation where you’ll learn about our culture, as well as the benefits and responsibilities of being a member of PSS. You will also receive division-specific training designed to help you succeed in your division. Successful Summer Associates may be invited back to join our New Associate program in a full time position.

Summer Analyst Internship

A PSS internship gives you a unique opportunity to learn about the finance industry by working side by side with the experts. Our interns do not learn by watching, they learn by getting involved in real projects.

 

Who Can Apply

The summer analyst role is for candidates currently pursuing a college or university degree and is usually undertaken during the penultimate year of study. While your discipline or major are not important, we are looking for candidates with an outstanding record of academic achievement and an interest in the financial markets.

 

About the Program

This is an eight to ten-week program designed to fully immerse you in the day-today activities of one of our divisions. The program starts with a one-day orientation where you’ll learn about our culture, as well as the benefits and responsibilities of being a member of PSS. You will also receive division-specific training designed to help you succeed in your division.

After training, you will receive real responsibilities to give you a sense of what you would be doing, day to day, as a full-time PSS employee. Along with fellow interns, you will work alongside leaders within our industry. Successful Summer Analysts may be invited back to join our New Analyst program in a full time position.
